THE RULES -- what's this new Berserk-cast all about?
Of course...that's what attracted me to this whole music thing in the first place; all the rules!
Not.
But seriously and honestly, I do need to set some kind of ground rules for this whole "Something OLD, something NEW, something BORROWED, & something BLUES" podcast approach.
I want to provide a QUICK and EASY radio show for people who don't have all...damn...day! We live in times where an attention span is an anachronism, I get it. So what do you do? Speed things up a bit!
In light of this, I want to play just 4 songs for you each month and, as the name implies, these will be...
1) SOMETHING OLD...that one really is self-explanatory! I could start the show off with anything, really. The wheel keeps turning and our favorite new music is already old and fading! But this first song will set the tone.
2) SOMETHING NEW...this is really where the rules kick in. We all know those people who still think of NIRVANA and BECK as "new" music, and the 90's were just a couple years ago. Well, to try and keep up this NEW song will have to be...let's say...within 3 or 4 years of the release date (and that's pushing it, I will try to keep it within 2 or 3 years if possible)
3) SOMETHING BORROWED...this one has a little wiggle room to it and could be considered a "wild card" of sorts. It could be a song that I borrow from a friend...it could be a request, so tghe borrowing an idea, let's call it...or it could be a record I borrowed (and never returned?)...or it could be a cover song, that the artist "borrowed" from the original artist. Sure, why not?
And then, finally,
4) SOMETHING BLUES...seeing as the blues is the root of rock and roll, jazz, and almost all popular music in one way or another, I am sure I can find plenty of Blues music to play. It might not always be typical Blues music but it will be the Blues none the less!
So, that's what this will be all about. I hope you follow this blog and the MixCloud and KEEP LISTENING!
